Gains in Reading Comprehension
Students reading three years below grade level were given LTL or traditional reading instruction over 13 weeks. Reading comprehension gains were assessed by a standardized reading test.
Both groups were adult production workers taking company-sponsored classes at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Before these interventions, participants in both groups were reading at the 7th grade level who needed to read at the 10th grade level in order to benefit from ongoing training programs.
